Helping Colorado Families Solve Their Legal Problems

Family law disputes including divorce are often emotionally difficult and have long-lasting consequences. The attorneys at Arnold & Arnold are dedicated to helping our family law clients see past the stress and emotion of the moment to see the long-term ramifications of their decisions. We work hard to develop effective legal strategies to protect our clients’ rights and solve their legal problems in the most cooperative manner possible.

Guiding You Through Divorce in Colorado

Divorce can be complicated, especially when children are involved. You will have many choices to make with long-lasting effects on all involved. At Arnold & Arnold, LLP, we will guide you through every aspect of your divorce with a focus on productive, creative and positive problem-solving methods.

  • We will help you protect your separate property and know what to expect of the marital property division.
  • Courts look favorably on child custody and visitation agreements that emphasize shared parenting responsibility, visitation time and decision-making power. We will protect your rights and work to find a solution that puts your child’s best interests first.
  • We will help you know what to expect and understand the factors that are used to determine child support in Colorado.
  • Sometimes called alimony or support, spousal maintenance is awarded at the court’s discretion in order to allow one spouse to maintain their standard of living. We will help you understand your rights regarding temporary or permanent spousal maintenance.
  • If your spouse refuses to abide by support or custody order, we will assist you in seeking court enforcement of those orders.
  • Sometimes financial or other life circumstances change significantly. When that happens, support and custody orders may need modification. We will help you seek, or defend against, modifications of the original order.

It is important to protect your rights in divorce, but we believe that aggressive, adversarial, win-at-any-cost approaches can take a severe toll on you and your children. From our years of experience, we know that litigation is not always the best solution. We try to help our clients solve their problems through negotiation and meditation first. If an agreement cannot be reached, however, we will use our litigation experience to zealously protect your interests in the courtroom.

Protecting Grandparents’ Rights

Colorado has a specific statute that establishes grandparents’ rights to visitation. We will advocate for your visitation rights, especially in situations where the child’s parents are divorcing or one parent has passed away.

Further, if one parent is involved in an action by the Department of Social Services, we work to allow grandparents to be named as the child’s primary caregiver. If the parents are unfit to care for the child, due to neglect, substance abuse or incarceration, grandparents can seek custody and parental responsibility in court. We will work closely with you to determine what is in the best interests of the child and pursue the course of legal action to protect those interests.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements: Planning for the Future

Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements are effective ways for parties to ensure their assets will be protected in the event the marriage ends. In addition, these agreements are also effective estate planning tools. Planning now can make life easier for everyone later on.
